GUYANA GOLD EXPLOITATION AND BANDITRY:
Historically, most of those poke knockers or (gold diggers) were Blacks and the Indigenous Peoples. With political unrest, and changes in the ethnic complexion of the political party in power. This historic phenomena has changed dramatically.
Blacks cannot get the financial resources to ensure they have the wherewithal to do the necessary exploration in the gold fields. Plus the politics seem to favor certain groups, that historically were absent from that industry.
Which begs the question now.
Why is this happening? And who is now benefiting from this much needed National Resource?
The government complains that it is unable to police, fully manage, and verify that all claims are legal, and if claimants are operating within the law.
Some of these claims may be correct, but with a political administration that allows some of it's administrators to operate with impunity, and indulge in under the table exploits, and other forms of corruption. It is unlikely that any significant changes can be expected to occur to remedy this national problem.
