Why Are The Candidates Afraid Of Debating Each Other?

GUYANA:

Why Are The Candidates Afraid Of Debating Each Other?

This is the year 2011, in case some Guyanese are un-aware of it. And it is high time that we get our politics and politicking up to date too.

Debates between political candidates are the current expectation in most developed and Democratic societies. And this trend is gaining favor in most developing countries where it has never been practiced before. Guyana is a case in point!

However, it seems like our political candidates, or at least some of them are un-willing to make this national expectation a reality. As the national election comes closer each day, I am asking this question once again.

When are we going to get a debate or two, between the contesting candidates for our General Election this year?

Is it a question or camera fright, intellectual ineptitude, or the fear of not having anything constructive to offer Guyanese?

Whatever it is, I surely would like to have a statement from each candidate to that effect very soon!
